School Uniform Firm To Create 60 Summer Jobs In Nottinghamshire

Schoolblazer, a school uniform company based in Mansfield, has said it will create 60 temporary summer jobs in the Nottinghamshire town this year.

The company was founded over a decade ago by Robin Horsell and Tim James and is based in the Forest Town area of Mansfield. Schoolblazer manufactures and distributes school uniforms to schools both locally and further afield across the UK.

Schoolblazer is now looking to fill dozens of summer jobs, starting from next month and lasting until September, at their factory on the Crown Farm Industrial Estate in Forest Town. The summer months are critical for Schoolblazer’s business, falling as they do ahead of the start of the new term when parents are readying their children for the year ahead.

There will be positions for machinists who will need some form of basic experience of stitching - but there will also be warehouse vacancies for which no previous experience is necessary. It is thought that some of the positions could be made permanent in September, but, for now, the 60 Nottinghamshire jobs are only being advertised as temporary contracts.

Schoolblazer’s operations manager, Sean Ryan, set out the company’s expansion and staffing expectations for the medium term, saying: “We plan to grow between 10 per cent to 15 per cent so our growth can only benefit the employment rate in Nottinghamshire in the foreseeable and long term future.”

Essential Recruitment, a firm with offices in Mansfield, is helping Schoolblazer to fill their summer jobs this year. Their operations manager, Marc Orli, reflected on the area’s decline in the textiles sector, but was hopeful about the future for Mansfield and Nottinghamshire:

“After such poor economic times over the recent years it is a pleasure to consult with an independent company’s growth and as such, provide a large number of local employment opportunities. The demise of the textiles industry over the last few decades in the Mansfield area has seen some lost expertise. It is encouraging that companies such as Schoolblazer is once again utilising the skills available and furthermore training for the future,” said Mr Orli.
