Part Time Job And Holiday Job News

A number of students have found temporary jobs this summer working at Luton airport.

During the summer months, conditions at UK airports can get particularly busy.

In anticipation of this, Luton has hired over 40 students from the University of Bedfordshire to make the long queuing and security process as streamlined as possible.

As reported by Luton Today, Lisa Woods, security services duty officer at the airport, said: "We employed the students as communicating the new procedures is quite time consuming and the summer is our busiest time of the year.

"We want to make the process of flying as easy as possible for travellers using London Luton Airport.

"The calibre of students is really high, they are enthusiastic and several of them speak different languages, which is especially helpful."

The students involved have temporary jobs as information stewards.

In this capacity, they help prepare passengers before they enter the security search point, as well as dealing with customer queries and providing information.

The students involved found the work via their university Job Shop.

Priya Chauhan, Job Shop manager, said: "It wasn't difficult to fill the vacancies at the airport, as there were so many students wanting to do the job.

"The position has helped increase their confidence and communications skills, which will help in their future careers."
