Autonet Insurance has announced expansion plans which will see the firm creating 200 new jobs in Stoke-on-Trent over the next twelve months.

Autonet has been a specialist in vehicle insurance since 1998 but is now moving into home and small business insurance too. The widening of its sales areas will allow the insurer to grow the business, increasing its headcount by almost 30 percent to around 900 members of staff.

Around 1 in 8 of the new jobs at Autonet in Stoke-on-Trent have already been advertised, but a further 176 vacancies are to be advertised at the company next year. Basic salaries for the new Autonet roles start out at £20,000 with a range of roles on offer at the insurer.

Autonet Insurance founder and managing director, Ian Donaldson, said that as the van aggregator website for Moneysupermarket.com, the firm has links with ‘plenty of big names.’

“Every year business gets better for us and we're growing tremendously. Now we're moving into different fields, such as home insurance and small business insurance, which will spur on growth. I'm proud we've stayed local and are still passionate about training local people so I hope lots of people from Stoke-on-Trent will take the plunge and apply for our jobs next year,” added Mr Donaldson.

And, highlighting that a variety of positions would be up for grabs at Autonet, Donna Sturge, a marketing analyst for the insurer, said: “When most people think of Autonet, they think about call centre jobs. But there will be lots of opportunities in all sorts of departments. At a time when other companies are making redundancies, Autonet is going against the grain in its recruitment drive. We're growing all the time.”
