Airport To Create 2,500 More Jobs In Manchester

The North West airport is to create 2,500 new full and part time jobs in Manchester with a big variety of roles on offer from a number of major retailers, restaurants and other employers within the airport itself.

To recruit for the hundreds of new Manchester jobs at the airport, there will be a jobs fair in the middle of January at the airport’s Runway Visitor Park for any students and other job seekers who are interested in the new vacancies.

Just some of the employers who will be recruiting at Manchester Airport over the coming months include Amazon, Aviator, Costa Coffee, Holiday Inn Express, Jet2, the World Duty Free group and WH Smith.

Introducing the new jobs, managing director of Manchester Airport, Ken O’Toole, said: “We are delighted that 2,500 jobs will be available across the airport site at the Jobs Fair in January 2016. Not only will these roles directly feed into, and increase, the 21,500 positions currently across the airport site, but they will also plug into the wider 45,000 jobs the airport indirectly supports across the region.”

“Manchester Airport not only plays a vital role in providing international connectivity for the region, it is also an economic provider and job creator. We look forward to welcoming people from our local communities and the wider region and wish them every success in accessing the variety of roles available,” added Mr O’Toole.

And commenting on the Amazon vacancies in particular the leader of Manchester council, Sir Richard Leese, said: “The news that Amazon is creating 1,500 jobs at Airport City is tremendous for Wythenshawe and Manchester as a whole. This development shows how attractive a location close to the airport, with its extensive connections, is for occupiers who require a global reach.”

The jobs fair will be held on 13th January 2016 from 11 in the morning until 7 in the evening and more than 25 companies will be in attendance looking to fill roles such as sales assistant, waiters and waitresses, check-in staff and baggage handlers.
