Sitel To Create 1,500 UK Call Centre Jobs

Sitel, an American telemarketing and outsourcing firm with operations in the UK and many other countries, is to take on more staff creating around 1,500 call centre vacancies across the country. Some of the roles on offer will be jobs suitable for graduates according to the company’s HR director for the UK.

The new Sitel jobs will be a mix of temporary jobs and permanent positions, with many part time positions up for grabs too.

Sitel will advertise call centre jobs at all six of their UK bases, with Coventry, Exeter, Kingston-upon-Thames, Leavesden, Newcastle and Stratford-upon-Avon all set to benefit from a recruitment surge.

Almost a third of the vacancies will be based at Balliol Business Park in Newcastle, where Sitel will be looking to fill 450 positions. Of those Newcastle call centre jobs, over 330 will be temporary jobs to cover extra work over the Christmas holidays and into the New Year. The other vacancies at Sitel in Newcastle will be permanent roles

Joanne Regan-Iles, Sitel’s director of Human Resources for the UK and Nordic Regions, said that they were keen to offer flexible working patterns like part time positions and fixed term contracts to staff so that Sitel can attract talented candidates who want to ‘balance family, education and other commitments’.

“The changing nature of customer care means that we are able to offer part time roles which can fit around our employees’ other commitments. We know that this flexibility is valued by our employees and this was evident on our recent Sit and Tell Survey, and it helps us to attract high-calibre candidates across the UK,” said Ms Regan-Iles.

“Recent graduates, entrepreneurs looking to supplement their income and second-jobbers are a vital part of the Sitel success story and we are keen to also offer them the chance to add skills and for some, the chance to build careers in customer care,” added Ms Regan-Iles.

Sitel employs over 2,400 staff in various roles across the UK. Worldwide, the company works in over 60 countries from more than 100 locations, providing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) jobs for over 60,000 people.
