Chinese Buffet Chain To Create Dozens Of Restaurant Jobs In Huddersfield

The Chinese Buffet, a small chain of chinese eateries, is to open its 11th branch, creating up to 50 restaurant jobs in Huddersfield.

The new restaurant will be in the town centre of Huddersfield and is expecting to cater for up to 4,000 covers per week. The latest £750,000 branch of The Chinese Buffet will be able to seat up to 250 diners in one sitting and should be open to customers before the end of November.

The chain of chinese restaurants was set up by business partners Paolo Hu and Peter Wu in 2006, with the first opening of The Chinese Buffet in Bolton. Further restaurants were opened by the pair in Blackpool, Bradford, Bury, Halifax, Preston, St. Helens, Wakefield, Wigan and Wrexham. The company now employs over 350 people and could add a further 30 to 50 new restaurant jobs with the Huddersfield launch.

Explaining the ethos of The Chinese Buffet, Paolo Hu said: “Chinese restaurants used to be about who could be the cheapest. They were canteen-like and the service was poor. We’ve changed all that and while we still offer good value for money, the design is important and our service is a la carte.”

And giving his forecasts for how many people will visit the new Huddersfield restaurant, Mr Hu added: “We want to create an energy and a buzz and we expect to be really busy serving 3,000 to 4,000 customers a week.

Giving some details about the sort of people they are looking for to fill the restaurant jobs, Mr Hu said, “We would love to have Huddersfield people working for us. That makes the team local and more solid. The key requirements we are looking for are commitment, dedication and energy.”

Mr Hu’s partner, Peter Wu, is a former student of Huddersfield University where he studied business information technology.

On returning to the university town in which he lived for ten years, Peter Wu, was very optimistic for the prospects of the new restaurant, saying, “The Huddersfield restaurant will be our best yet. We have made lots of design improvements and we learn with every new restaurant we open.”

Recruitment is already under way for the Huddersfield restaurant jobs, so students interested in filling the vacancies should get in touch with The Chinese Buffet team as soon as possible.
