2,500 Retail Jobs In Bradford At New Shopping Centre

A new shopping centre called The Broadway will create 2,500 retail jobs in Bradford, with doors set to open at the development in time to help out students who are looking for Christmas jobs in the city.

Recruitment is already underway to fill some of the new Bradford retail jobs but there will be many more vacancies advertised at The Broadway in the coming weeks.

4 out of every 5 retail units available at the new Bradford shopping centre are already filled and The Broadway will become the largest retail development to open in England this year. It has been built by Westfield, an Australian developer, and will be managed by them after opening on 5th November, but is owned by Meyer Bergman, a real estate investment company which has its headquarters in London.

Retailers who will be looking to fill permanent or temporary vacancies in the run up to Christmas at the new Broadway in Bradford include Debenhams, The Entertainer, H&M, Marks & Spencer, New Look, Next, Paperchase, River Island, Schuh, Superdry, Topshop and Topman.

Store manager for the new Debenhams at Broadway, Craig Baldock, said: “Opening the store will create more than 200 new permanent jobs and a mixture of seasonal temporary positions for the Christmas season. We’re feeling very positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and it is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in developing a career in retail.”

Giving some additional detail about the jobs on offer and the sort of candidate they hoped to attract, Mr Baldock added: “We are looking for people with the passion and drive to deliver the great service our customers deserve. The majority of roles will be on the sales floor, with additional positions available back of house.”

Leader of Bradford Council, David Green, sounded very keen to see the development reach completion before Christmas, saying: “The excitement is mounting as it really isn't long now to the grand opening and it's good to hear that the retailers are now fitting out their stores and preparing for the big day. Since it is the largest retail centre to open in the UK this year, I think everyone is very much looking forward to seeing what The Broadway development looks like inside.”
