Ocado To Create 250 New Drivers Jobs In Milton Keynes

Ocado, the online supermarket specialist, has said it will be creating 250 new Milton Keynes jobs as it hires hundreds of new drivers in the Buckinghamshire town.

The new roles are to be permanent positions at Ocado’s new distribution facility in Tongwell, set to open this November. Once up and running Ocado will have more than 100 delivery vans operating from the Milton Keynes site, and recruitment is already underway to fill the 250 drivers vacancies.

Commenting on the announcement, Director of Human Resources at Ocado, Julie Markey, stressed the importance of good drivers to their business, describing them as the ‘face of our brand’ and ‘critical to our success.’

“As we continue to expand our business across the country, we’re excited to announce the opening of our newest delivery hub in Milton Keynes. The site at Tongwell is perfectly located for serving our customers who live in the Milton Keynes area and we’re now on the hunt for 250 enthusiastic, customer service focused new drivers to join the team,” added Ms Markey.

Ms Markey also said that all of the new recruits will be offered full support and a structure to hold down a long-term career at Ocado, adding that many drivers rise up through the company to managerial levels or into training roles for new employees.
