Marston’s Brewery To Create 1,250 New Pub Jobs A Year

Marston’s PLC, the Midlands brewery and pub chain, has announced plans which it says will allow it to create around 1,250 bar jobs and related roles each year.

Posting half year profits of £29.6 million on a turnover of £385 million, Marston’s plans to continue its expansion and create hundreds of full and part time jobs in the process. The chain now manages over 1,500 public houses and plans to add many more in the future.

Ralph Findlay, chief executive of Marston’s, said that a two year strategy to reposition their business was now reaching fruition. He also put a large slice of Marston’s profit down to sales of bottled beers, where the firm now boasts almost a quarter of the UK market share.

“Profits have increased in each of our trading segments, excluding the impact of disposals, and we remain on track to complete 25 new-builds this year with excellent visibility on our site pipeline in 2015 and 2016. We are also seeing good opportunities to expand our premium estate, Pitcher & Piano and Revere, and invest further in pubs with accommodation. We expect to complete the majority of our disposals programme this year and our momentum gives us confidence of achieving further progress in the future,” explained Mr Findlay.

Marston’s employs over 13,000 staff in full and part time roles in the UK pub industry, with over 1,000 in head office roles at their main base in Wolverhampton.
