Birmingham Grand Central - Now Hiring!

Birmingham Grand Central is now hiring - and the shopping and dining hub are looking to fill over 1,000 Birmingham retail jobs, customer service roles and hospitality vacancies in the centre of the West Midlands city when it opens its doors in September.

Not all of the hundreds of new jobs are being advertised as we write, but more and more opportunities at the Birmingham retail centre should be advertised in the coming weeks. Interested job seekers can sign up for work and training opportunities at Birmingham Grand Central by following this link to their Recruitment Page.

One of the major employers at Grand Central in Birmingham will be John Lewis which is set to open a huge 23,000 square metre store over the city’s New Street train station. The famous department store will have more than 500 retail jobs on offer at Grand Central in Birmingham, and most of their vacancies will be advertised before the coming summer.

Birmingham City Council’s assistant director for employment, Shilpi Akbar, said: “With over 1,000 jobs being created at Grand Central, this partnership is committed to reflect Birmingham’s diverse community and showcase the skills of Birmingham’s job seekers. Our work to date has been to develop and coordinate high quality training across the city in the customer service, retail and hospitality sectors to ensure unemployed people have access to the range of job opportunities which will arise from Grand Central.”

And, driving home the point that local job seekers in Birmingham will be given priority for many of the roles on offer at the retail and dining centre, development director Richard Brown said: “Grand Central is committed to providing local jobs for local people. We want to ensure that the opportunities created by the new development are accessible to all and benefit Birmingham. The investment John Lewis has made to Birmingham further supports the growth of the city and maximises the opportunities available for local people to work for a leading premium retail brand.”
