Travelodge Offering 200 New Hotel Jobs Before Christmas 2014

Travelodge has announced plans to open six new hotels before the end of 2014 and says that the expansion will create over 200 hotel jobs before the Christmas holidays.

The half dozen new Travelodge hotels will be located at Egham, Greenwich, Llandudno, Southampton, Raynes Park and Wembley - and an average of 20 hotel jobs will be created with each opening. The 126 vacancies on offer at the new hotels will include cleaners, receptionists, bar staff, team members and a number of management positions.

In addition, the hotel chain is also looking to fill 40 new apprenticeship places and around 40 head office jobs in a variety of support roles.

Travelodge runs over 500 hotels in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Spain and now employs over 9,000 members of staff in the hospitality sector.

The chief operating officer for Travelodge, Jon Hendry Pickup, said the company was looking to find ‘highly motivated’ candidates who understand the importance of great customer service in the hospitality industry. In return, Mr Pickup said that Travelodge would provide wonderful opportunities to the successful applicants who join their ranks.

Mr Pickup said that the Travelodge apprenticeships for school leavers - known as JuMP (JUnior Management Programme) - provide a great alternative for young people who don’t fancy going to university, with many young people who complete the course maturing into managers at Travelodge by the time they reach 21.

“We are totally committed to developing our people, and we offer a range of further education and training opportunities to help individuals climb the career ladder. Our in-house management programme offers a direct route into management, and to date over 350 Travelodge employees have graduated into a management position this way. With Travelodge you don't just get a job, but a long-term career within a growing company that’s part of a dynamic industry,” summed up Mr Pickup.
