A new Asda supermarket in the Reddish area of Greater Manchester is set to create up to 300 new full or part time jobs in Stockport.
The new store is only expected to open its doors to the public in the middle of October this year, but recruitment for hundreds of supermarket jobs at the chain is due to get underway this week.
The new Stockport Asda will cover more than 2,500 square metres and, in addition to the familiar supermarket aisles, will also feature a decent-sized George clothing section along with a dedicated food hall.
Moe Brien, the store manager for the new Asda supermarket in Reddish, said: “We’re feeling very positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with the new store. We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers into our brand new store.”
In other supermarket news today, Aldi have announced plans for 40 new full and part time jobs in Nottinghamshire at a proposed new store in Mansfield.
An Aldi spokesperson explained the motives behind the proposal: “A new Aldi food store would represent a multi-million-pound investment as well as delivering wider benefits for Mansfield including: increased shopping choice in the north of the town, retention of local spending and the creation of approximately 40 full and part time jobs for the community. Before we submit a planning application to Mansfield Borough Council, we are keen to understand the views of the local community.”
