New Development Could Create 200 Nottingham Retail Jobs

A proposed new development could create up to 200 full and part time retail jobs in Nottingham according to Cedar House Investments if it gets approval by local residents and the city council.

The proposed plans would come at an investment of around £10 million but would provide a much needed injection of retail vacancies in the east side of Nottingham city, and the proposals would appear to be warmly welcomed by people living in the area.

Jenene Meikle, a local resident who already works nearby saw the positive sides to the proposed retail park development in her Nottingham region:

“The plan sounds all right and well worth it if it will create 200 jobs. I can't see why it wouldn't be welcome because the land is not being used,” said Ms Meikle.

The chairman of Cedar House Investments, Peter Gadsby, said the proposed scheme would encourage further investment in the area and believed that locals would really get behind the plans to regenerate the land, which is currently unused:

“The ambitious retail development we are proposing is much needed for the people of Sneinton to inject vibrancy into the area. The opportunity for the creation of jobs for local people will be actively encouraged both during construction and once the scheme opens when we expect there to be up to 200 new jobs,” said Mr Gadsby.

One company that has already expressed a strong interest in the Nottingham site is supermarket chain Aldi. If they take on the 16,500 square feet of land that they are interested in at the site then they will provide dozens of new supermarket jobs for students in the Sneinton area of Nottingham.
