Ascensos, a new contact centre company, says it will create at least 600 full or part time jobs in Scotland over the course of the next three years at its new call centre in Motherwell.

The firm will start out with a team of 100 staff but hopes to add a further 500 jobs at Motherwell before the end of 2016. If all goes to plan then Ascensos believe there is scope for 1,000 new jobs at the contact centre over the next five years.

Ascensos’ managing director, John Devlin, said the company wanted to use the ‘tremendous skills availability’ within Motherwell to build long term, high quality jobs in North Lanarkshire.

Giving some insight into the sort of candidates they will be looking to hire at Motherwell, Mr Devlin said, “In terms of roles created, our focus is not just on youth employment as we will also be looking to re-train and develop our people skills across the spectrum, including return-to-work mums and those affected by redundancy over recent years. We want the very best people to play a big part in our success."

Mr Devlin pledged to become one of the biggest employers in Motherwell and hopes to expand throughout the United Kingdom, created more jobs at Ascensos in other regions as they grow.

John Swinney, the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth in the Scottish Government described the Ascensos announcement as a major boost for jobs in Scotland.
