Sainsbury’s is currently extending one of its Scarborough supermarkets in a move that will create up to 120 new full or part time jobs in Yorkshire.

With only two other smaller ‘local’ outlets, the superstore, at Falsgrave Road in Scarborough, is already Sainsbury’s largest presence in the town. When the expansion is complete in just a few months, it will offer the retailer an extra 3,150 square metres of floor space to sell from.

Recruitment for the 120 full or part time positions at the expanded Sainsbury’s is already underway, but vacancies will continue to be added to the company’s careers website over the coming weeks.

Manager of human resources for the Scarborough Sainsbury’s superstore, Alex Hughes, spoke of the range of full and part time positions that will be advertised:

“The store expansion means that we now have up to 120 new job opportunities available, including in our new departments – clothing, electrical and home, café and online shopping. Sainsbury’s is a great place to work and I look forward to meeting many interested candidates over the next few months and talking career progression, youth forums and future potential,” said Ms Hughes.

The council’s job brokerage service, Scarborough Job Match, will now work in conjunction with Sainsbury’s to organise information days for interested candidates, hoping to give a flavour of what it is like to work for the retailer.
