A new Westmoreland service station will be built on the M5 motorway, creating up to 150 jobs in Gloucester.
The new service station will be built between junctions 11a and 12 and will cost £40 million for Westmoreland and their partners Gloucestershire Gateway Trust to get up and running.
The Northbound service station is set to be built in the first phase and is forecast to be ready by the middle of next year.
It is possible that even more jobs could come at the completed Gloucester services in the future, with the company’s website stating that 300 people will eventually be employed at the new site.
The chief executive of Westmorland Limited, Sarah Dunning, said the company was ‘thrilled and excited’ to be opening a new service station in Gloucester and that they were looking forward to offering friendly service and locally sourced food.
“We’re bringing a great number of new jobs to the region and we’re looking for some inspiring and engaging people to join us to serve the millions of people that travel on the M5 annually,” said Mrs Dunning, daughter of Westmoreland’s original founders John and Barbara Dunning.
Full or part time jobs on offer at Westmoreland include roles in catering, retail, customer services, admin and cleaning. Management positions will also be available at the new Gloucester Westmoreland.
In total the company currently employs somewhere in the region of 500 members of staff, so the completed Gloucester services will lead to a huge increase in the company’s headcount.
