New Investment Could Create 4,000 Leicestershire Jobs

Up to 4,000 full or part time Leicestershire jobs could be created after £10 million has been funded to the area by the Government.

The cash injection, which will be allocated to local businesses by the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), will boost investment by employers in the region and will lead to thousands of new vacancies in the county.

Nationwide, a total pot of over £500 million has been released by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund so we can expect thousands more full and part time jobs to be created all over the United Kingdom by the new funding.

Local businesses who employ between 50 and 250 people will be eligible for grants of up to 10% of any new total project investment. It is hoped that the funding will encourage new and existing businesses to invest in premises, machinery and staff.

Head of Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership, Mandip Rai, said: “This is fantastic news for Leicester and Leicestershire and an opportunity for the partnership to offer additional financial support for businesses. There are companies out there with expansion plans and today's funding will give them that extra impetus.”

Mr Rai also mentioned that, in addition to adding new jobs to the local economy of Leicestershire, it was also safeguarding hundreds more by encouraging more businesses to stay in the county.
