Morrisons To Create 300 New Supermarket Jobs In West Midlands

A new Morrisons supermarket will create up to 300 new full or part time West Midlands jobs as it opens in the Sheldon area of the region.

In the run up to the new supermarket launch, Morrisons also liaised with Solihull College and Jobcentre Plus to train up around 1,000 people in the local area.

The supermarket will be a “skills academy” where employees will be trained up in crafts and trades such as baking, butchery, flower arranging, fishmongery and sausage making.

Customers passing through the doors of the new West Midlands’ Morrisons will be able to view members of staff carrying out their newly learned skills and crafts.

Paul Murphy, the general manager of the new Morrisons at Sheldon said: “The team have worked hard to train as specialists in areas such as wine, butchery and bakery. We’re delighted that, as a result of this new store opening, we have helped create new jobs in the local area, and are now looking forward to welcoming new shoppers into our Sheldon store.”

This region of England seems to be driving hundreds of job opportunities at the moment. It was only a few days ago that we brought you news of a possible 100 thousand potential jobs in the West Midlands. Long may it continue!

The West Midlands is a good hunting ground for students who don’t mind a bit of graft while they are at college or uni. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty (normally you won’t need to get them dirty anyway) then try finding a flexible position where you are studying on our page of Part Time West Midlands Jobs.
