Jaguar Land Rover To Create 800 West Midlands Jobs

18 Jan 2013

Jaguar Land Rover To Create 800 West Midlands Jobs Carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is set to create over 800 full or part time jobs in the West Midlands at its Solihull facility.

The new recruitment drive continues a previous increase of over 8,000 staff worldwide in the last two years by Jaguar as they have seen sales of their cars go from strength to strength.

The total number of employees at JLR has surged by almost 50 per cent since 2011 to around 25,000, so the new West Midlands jobs are a massive boost to Solihull and to the UK car manufacturing industry as a whole.

Much of the strong recent sales performance by Jaguar can be put down to an increase in demand in the car industry in China, where sales outperformed the UK for the first time last year.

Speaking about the new JLR vacancies in the West Midlands, the Government’s Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “Jaguar Land Rover's creation of 800 new jobs in Solihull to support new product development is a welcome boost for the UK automotive industry. The company's investment of £2bn this year and 8,000 new jobs over the last two years shows how JLR goes from strength to strength.”
