Marston’s PLC, the independent brewer and pub retailer based in Wolverhampton, will create over 1,000 bar jobs across England and Wales as it looks to open more than 20 new pubs next year.

Peter Dalzell, Marston’s Inns and Taverns’ managing director explained that the firm had managed to open 25 new-build pubs in 2012 and expected the trend to continue next year.

“We will be on track for 20 to 25 more in the next 12 months. Our breweries have continued to perform well, and Banks’s has sold particularly well in its new bottle format. In the pubs we have introduced a range of single hop cask beers brewed in Wolverhampton which have been very popular,” said Mr Dalzell.

Marston’s Inns and Taverns currently has over 2,000 pubs and bars in the UK and has five regional breweries in Wolverhampton, Burton upon Trent, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and the Lake District. Together, the Marston’s breweries boast over 60 permanent and guest ales by names you will have heard of like Jennings, Banks’s and Brakspear.

With an average of between 40 to 50 jobs coming at each new Marston’s pub, the expansion next year should see in the region of 1,000 bar jobs and related positions being created.
