EAT To Add 1,500 Jobs As It Beefs Up Its Sandwich Chain

21 Nov 2012

EAT To Add 1,500 Jobs As It Beefs Up Its Sandwich Chain EAT, the popular sandwich, soup and coffee chain, has announced expansion plans which could see it almost double in size and create up to 1,500 new full and part time jobs in London and other parts of the country.

Currently, EAT has just over 100 outlets in areas spread around central London and big student areas such as Brighton, Manchester, Liverpool, Cambridge, Oxford and Glasgow.

Founders of EAT, married couple Niall and Faith MacArthur say that with their diversifying range of products and increased demand for their brand name, they can potentially grow the company to over 200 stores in the next three of four years.

The addition of another 100 EAT outlets would create up to 1,500 new full and part time jobs in various existing and new regions. Jobs on offer will include customer hosts, supporting roles and shop management positions.

From starting out in the mid 1990s with one store on Villiers Street in London, EAT has increased its product range from sandwich, soup and coffee to embrace everything from pies to porridge and salads to sushi.

Speaking of the reasons why the chain needs to expand, Mrs MacArthur said: “People’s tastes have changed enormously since we started the company back in 1996. When we started we were just selling sandwiches and coffee – and we had to put up descriptions of the different coffees. Since then, the types of sandwich fillings has multiplied and we’ve pioneered a range of pies, porridge and hot pots.”

If you are interested in any of the expected 400 jobs per year that EAT will advertise as part of their expansion plans then you could face stiff competition. The chain already receives over 100 job applications every day!
