Aker Solutions To Add 500 Aberdeen Jobs

16 May 2012

Aker Solutions To Add 500 Aberdeen Jobs Aker Solutions, a Norwegian energy company, has said it will create up to 500 new full or part time jobs in Aberdeen in the next couple of years.

The gas and oil specialist already employs around 2,700 staff in Scotland but the new positions will swell the ranks of Aker Solutions to well over 3,000 as it seeks to expand by up to 15 per cent in the next few years.

Coming on the back of 350 Scottish jobs that the energy company announced last year, the hundreds of new Aberdeen jobs continue a phase of strong growth in the region by Aker.

Aker Solutions utilise subsea and drilling technology in Scotland’s North East to prolong the useful lifespan of offshore platforms and produce more natural gas and oil.

Speaking in Norway, First Minister for Scotland, Alex Salmond, said he was delighted about the new Aberdeen jobs from the energy company.

“Our oil and gas sector remains a vitally important part of the economy, generating jobs and prosperity, and the Scottish government, Scottish Development International and our enterprise agencies are determined to support the ambitions of overseas investors and Scottish companies,” said Mr Salmond.
