Recruiters on Facebook

17 May 2007

Recruiters on Facebook Facebook is more popular than ever - and recruiters know it.

Employers looking for the most promising graduates have been scouring websites all over the net and have already established presences in virtual world Second Life and on networking site MySpace.

Now new research shows that a rival networking site - Facebook - is increasingly becoming the place to find the employees of the future.

According to Professional Recruiter, online intelligence company Hitwise reports that Facebook became the 20th most visited website in the first week of April this year.

During one week in April, more than three times the number of 18 to 24 year-olds from the UK visited Facebook than MySpace.

The site has been popular with university students and recent graduates for several months and recruiters are beginning to recognise it as a valuable tool to proactively target candidates.

There are even rumours that Prince William has a profile on Facebook. Unlike many other members, however, it is apparently impossible to view his full personal profile.
