Pret A Manger To Create Over 500 Full Or Part Time Jobs
Pret A Manger, the chain of sandwich outlets, is on an expansion boost which will create up to 550 new full and part time jobs in the United Kingdom this year.

The retailer will open 24 new branches in 2012 and will create further full and part time vacancies by opening 20 more outlets overseas in countries including France and the United States.

The Pret A Manger expansion will take the total number of outlets worldwide to over 330 – a strong rate of growth considering the first branch opened in London in 1986. The company now employs close to 5,000 staff in the UK but hopes to bring more school leavers into its ranks over the coming months. They also plan to extend their apprenticeship scheme for homeless people with the shop expansion strategy in 2012.

Speaking of who the firm will recruit for the new full and part time jobs after recent criticism for not employing enough British staff, Clive Schlee, chief executive of Pret A Manger, said: “In the regions I think the majority of recruits will pretty much be British people but London is a more multi-cultural city and there will be more foreigners. But we want as many British people to apply as possible.”
