500 Cardiff Jobs To Be Called Up By Indian Firm
Hundreds of full or part time Cardiff jobs are set to be created after news that Indian firm Firstsource will set up a call centre base in the city.

Full details of the number of jobs in Cardiff the move will create remain to be disclosed but the Wales Online website reports a figure of 500 positions. The new vacancies will be advertised for the company’s new offices at Discovery House in Cardiff Bay.

Firstsource has close to 50 offices around the world and already has a base in London. Worldwide they employ over 30,000 staff to provide business process services in banking, finance, healthcare, publishing, telecommunications and media.

First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, said: “An announcement has been made that hundreds of jobs will be coming to a business centre in Cardiff because of Firstsource, a Mumbai-based company who will be bringing business processing services here to the capital.”

A spokesperson for Firstsource, though, wouldn’t be tied down to an actual figure on the number of Cardiff jobs that would be created at the new contact centre, saying it was still ‘early days.’

In separate jobs news for South Wales, two Sainsbury’s have now passed the planning permission stage and will create hundreds more full and part time jobs in Carmarthenshire.
