Engineering Firm Assystem To Create 300 Derby Jobs By 2015

The French-owned engineering company Assystem is expanding and will be creating up to 300 new jobs in Derby before 2015. Some of the engineering positions on offer will be graduate jobs in Derby and the firm will start recruiting before the end of this year.

Assystem works with Rolls-Royce, and an increase in demand for jet engines has led to orders which could double the size of the firm in Derby. They will seek to hire graduates and staff with an existing background in engineering firm over the next three years.

Assystem currently has a headcount of 300 in the Midlands area, but expects to increase that figure by a third before the end of the year.

In 2012, the company expects to offer around 70 graduate jobs in Derby. It will open a new office in the city and an in-house training facility for graduates and apprentices will start next year.

Pete Brown, regional operations manager at Assystem, said: “In the next three years, I expect we will be taking on more than 300 people across the Midlands and the majority of those will be based in Derby. It has come to a point where we no longer want to rely on contract labour to fulfil our commitments. Ensuring we have the skills for the future means we need to employ a lot more skilled people and bring in more graduates.”
