bp graduates to work with london olympics organisers
08-Feb-2012

BP Graduates To Work With London Olympics Organisers BP, the international oil and gas giant based in London, is to offer some of this year’s crop of graduates a chance to work alongside the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

The British company is upping the number of graduate jobs it has on offer this year to 244, around 50 per cent more than the graduate vacancies it had available last year.

100 of the new BP graduates will start working with LOCOG in June, with transport and accommodation costs and an internship salary provided by BP. Once their work experience at the London 2012 Games is complete, the graduates will start their new jobs with BP in September.

BP’s head of graduate recruitment in the UK, Emma Judge, said the company was placing more students into graduate jobs than ever before and was certain that the STEM community of science, technology, engineering and maths students would be encouraged by BP’s current levels of recruitment. She was also pleased to offer the new graduate recruits the opportunity to be a part of the Olympics in the capital.

“Being an Official Partner of the London 2012 Games, we wanted a special welcome for the graduates joining BP this year, so what better way than starting their careers with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This will be a memorable experience - a fantastic opportunity for students in a truly unique setting,” said Ms Judge.

Chairman of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, Seb Coe, said that LOCOG was looking forward to having BP’s ‘high-calibre’ graduates on board for the games.

“We are glad that these graduates will be gaining skills and experience that they will be able to use for many years to come, helping us leave a lasting legacy long after the Games have finished,” said former athlete and Olympic medal winner Mr Coe.
