Graduate Job News

People tend to think that big universities like Cambridge are most likely to produce the top graduate earners in the country. However, new figures from Unistats, part of the government’s Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), show that less well known institutes such as Blackburn College can turn out some of the UK’s biggest graduate earners.

Graduates of Blackburn College’s University Centre earn an average of £25,000 within just six months of graduating. That figure trumps bigger institutes like Cambridge and Durham and matches the sum that an Oxford or University College London graduate can expect to earn. It is also smashes the national average salary by around 18 per cent.

A Blackburn College graduate’s earning power also beats that of students from other North West institutes such as the University of Salford, Liverpool John Moores University, Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester University – all of which can only expect an average of between £20,000 and £21,000 within six months of graduating.

Blackburn College’s Principal, Ian Clinton, said of the findings from Unistats: “We are very proud of these figures, which clearly illustrate our commitment to providing each and every one of our students with the best possible chance of joining, and sustaining, their chosen career path. We put the employability of our students at the heart of everything we do.”
