Travelodge, the budget hotel company, has said it will create up to 1,000 full or part time jobs and apprenticeships this year.
The ambitious hotel chain says it will open over 40 hotels this year and has already started looking to fill some hotel jobs in Bradford, Chester, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London and Sunderland.
The new hotels will cost Travelodge close to £250 million to complete and over a quarter of them will be in the centre of London.
Full and part time jobs on offer at Travelodge include positions for bar staff, cleaners and receptionists as well as some management level roles.
In addition to an estimated 880 new hospitality jobs that Travelodge will create in 2012, the company will also seek to find 120 apprentices to enter its Junior Management Programme (JuMP).
Chief executive officer of Travelodge, Guy Parsons, praised the efforts of his hotel company, saying: “Travelodge is continuing to open hotels at a faster rate than anyone else and create much needed jobs; which is exactly what the British economy needs right now.”
Travelodge’s director of human resources, Michelle Luxford, gave further details of the expansion plan and revealed what sort of candidates they would be looking for to fill their jobs:
“We have an aggressive growth plan in place, which includes opening 1,100 hotels by 2025. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals who want a long-term career in hospitality,” said Ms Luxford.
