Another 4,050 New Retail Jobs At Debenhams

30 Oct 2011

Another 4,050 New Retail Jobs At Debenhams Debenhams has revealed that a further 4,050 new full and part time retail jobs will be created in the next few years. These new retail jobs from Debenhams are in addition to the 6,500 Christmas jobs which we reported on a few weeks ago.

The new vacancies will open up as the department store revamps existing outlets and opens up retail outlets in nine new locations over the next three to four years.

Debenhams will make improvements to 25 of its current stores – around one in 7 of the total number of its outlets in the UK – and has plans to extend its overall presence to close to the 250 store mark.

Some of the Debenhams stores set for a revamp include Bournemouth, Chester, Harrow, Luton, Harrogate, Preston, Cheltenham, Reading, Northampton, Bedford, Hull, Carlisle, Worthing, Plymouth, Salisbury and Blackburn. So any students in those areas looking for part time retail job vacancies would be well advising to get in touch with their local Debenhams sooner rather than later.

The next phase of the Debenhams expansion will see new stores launched before 2015 in Barnsley, Bradford, Burton upon Trent, Chesterfield, Darlington, Hereford and Macclesfield. The retailer will also open two new stores in Ireland during the same period.

Debenhams’ new chief executive, Michael Sharp, said, “This is a strong signal that the UK high street is alive and well and we are backing it 100%. It also shows a very real commitment to our clear focus on growing our UK retail business.”

Despite what some of the doomsayers might try to tell you, there are still lots of new full and part time vacancies opening up in the retail sector for students. Take a peek at our Part Time Retail Jobs – South East for a flavour of some of the vacancies currently on offer.
