Student Jobs At London Olympics 2012 Students are being encouraged to get right into the action by applying for full and part time jobs at the London Olympics 2012.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) says that thousands of full and part time London jobs will become available between now and the start of the Games.

The LOCOG forecasts that by the time that the Games in London get underway there will be over 170 thousand paid staff and volunteers in full or part time jobs at the Olympics.

The majority of the jobs will be on a temporary basis and will start in April next year. The LOCOG says that many of the positions on offer would be very suitable jobs for students.

Chief Executive of LOCOG, Paul Deighton, said that the Games simply wouldn’t even get off the ground without the help of thousands of eager employees and volunteers.

“If someone wants to be able to say that they played a part in making London 2012 a success, then this is their opportunity. There is a role out there for everyone and I would urge everyone to keep an eye on our website and start applying for these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities,” encouraged Mr Deighton.

Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, is also firmly behind the job creation momentum that London 2012 is building:

“The Games must be a catalyst for transforming the skills and jobs prospects of Londoners and I urge people to get online and check out the thousands of opportunities that will be on offer next year. Whether it's a paid job or a volunteer role as part of our ever expanding Team London initiative, there are countless ways to get involved, boost your skills and help make the Games a resounding success,” said Mr Johnson.
