A research park could create up to 1,000 full and part time Suffolk jobs if St Edmundsbury Borough Council passes the outline planning applications for the site at Haverhill.
Carisbrooke Investments, the company behind the research park at Haverhill in Suffolk are optimistic that the council will reach a decision before the Christmas holidays and that work could start in the New Year.
The research park would have a strategic position near Cambridge and Stansted Airport and it is hoped that many technology businesses would be attracted to the area. As well as space for research and business, the plans for Haverhill Research Park include a hotel, restaurant, science park, day nursery and over a hundred houses.
If St Edmundsbury Borough Council gives the development ideas the green light then work could start at the site in the first half of 2012. If all goes to plan then some of the development’s buildings and infrastructure could be complete by the end of 2012, bringing the first wave of Suffolk jobs to the Haverhill Research Park.
Director at Carisbrooke Investments, Nic Rumsey, said: “The submission of these planning applications marks an important milestone in the project and moves forward the vision for this comprehensive development. The scheme will generate significant employment opportunities, attract inward investment into Haverhill and also help meet local housing needs.”
