UP FOR HIRE LIVE Set To Hit The Screen

27 Sep 2011

UP FOR HIRE LIVE Set To Hit The Screen A new BBC3 youth unemployment programme called UP FOR HIRE LIVE is set to hit screens next week. The series will try to help young people into work with some high profile paid work placements.

Presented by Richard Bacon and Tina Daheley, the live interactive show starts at 9pm on Monday 17th October and will be supported by a special BBC website. The programme will be on every night until Thursday 20th October and is the first live show ever to be screened on BBC3.

There will also be previews and features about UP FOR HIRE LIVE all this week on BBC Radio One’s Breakfast Show with Scott Mills.

Some of the interviews for the work placements will be shown on the programme next week and presenters Richard and Tina will answer viewers’ questions live.

The seven companies on board for UP FOR HIRE LIVE are Argos, Greggs, Hilton, Scottish Power, Starbucks, Timpson and Virgin Media. Between them, they have over twenty paid work placements up for grabs in a range of fields such as retail and leisure.

These fantastic work experience opportunities are for a minimum period of three months and are a great way for young people to get one rung up the ladder in their careers. The Virgin Media work placement lasts for a full twelve months and leads to a qualification in Communication Technology.

The producers of UP FOR HIRE LIVE spoke of the show’s aims: “Obviously a TV series can't solve the problem of unemployment but we aim to shine a light on it and offer practical help on how to improve your chances of getting a job. The series will be interactive and have access to business experts and a wide range of companies both in the studio and via social media.”

If you are interested in applying for the paid work placements yourself, then you’d better get your skates on as the deadline is midnight tonight (27th September). Find out more and apply for the work placements at the following link: www.bbc.co.uk/upforhire
