Travelodge is set to create up to 160 full and part time jobs before Christmas as they open up nine new hotels in the UK.
In addition, the hotel company is also looking to open another hotel in Llandudno which could create a further 60 jobs in Wales next year.
The new hotels will take the Travelodge portfolio close to the 500 mark in the United Kingdom, and the company hopes to more than double that figure in the next 15 years.
The nine new hotels that will be completed before Christmas will open in Birmingham, Bolton, Doncaster, High Wycombe, Huddersfield, Liverpool, London, Portishead and Salford Quays.
Recruitment for the 160 full and part time positions is already underway. Jobs available at Travelodge include bar staff, cleaner and receptionists.
Human Resources Director at Travelodge, Michelle Luxford, stressed that the full and part time hotel jobs that will be advertised before Christmas would not necessarily be temporary jobs just for the holiday period:
“These 163 new jobs are not just for Christmas, we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals who want a long term career in hospitality,” said Ms Luxford.
And, speaking of the planned hotel for Llandudno in Wales, Tony O’Brien, UK development director of Travelodge Hotels, said: “There are currently no branded budget hotels in the town centre and we are sure that Travelodge will attract new visitors to the town, to experience and enjoy the benefits of the area. If planning permission is granted then we hope to re-open the hotel in 2012, creating 60 jobs for the local community in conjunction with the ground floor units.”
