The Admiral Group is set to create up to 200 full or part time jobs in Swansea as the insurance company expands its business interests in South Wales.
The group already employs over 1,600 people at its existing two Swansea bases but will increase its staff numbers by over ten per cent with the opening of a new facility in the city.
The new offices at Swansea Vale could create even more full and part time jobs in the future as there is room to employ as many as 600 people at the new base.
The Admiral Group is a major employer in Wales, with over 2,000 staff in Cardiff alone. The 200 new jobs in Swansea will take its headcount in Wales to over 4,500 employees.
Huw Llewellyn of the Admiral Group, spoke of his company’s intention to fill the jobs in Swansea from the surrounding region: “The expansion into Swansea Vale commits Admiral further to the Swansea area allowing us to continue to employ locally based people. This, alongside our continued growth in our Cardiff and Newport offices, strengthens our ongoing commitment to south Wales.”
Edwina Hart, the Welsh Business Minister, said she was ‘delighted’ with the number of jobs that Admiral Insurance was bringing to Swansea.
“Admiral is a strategically important company that makes a significant contribution to the Welsh economy. The Welsh Government has worked closely with Admiral Group since it opened its first centre in Cardiff in 1993 and has continued to support its growth,” said Ms Hart.
