Students studying law and medicine can benefit from tailored professional studies loans provided by several leading banks.
Those hoping to become doctors and lawyers usually face several years of expensive postgraduate study.
However, a number of UK banks, including Barclays, HSBC and Natwest, offer students of these subjects specialist loans to help deal with such costs.
The loans generally allow the borrower to draw down up to £25,000 - which will not have to be repaid until they finish their course.
Karen Garner, a spokesperson for HSBC, said: "These are long courses, they take up time, they can be expensive, so [the loan] is designed to aid them through those additional studies when they are a postgraduate.
"There is nothing to repay while they are taking out their studies and for up to six months after the course finishes."
Ms Garner also highlighted the other services specific to students that the HSBC operates.
She continued: "There are specialist student financial advisors in both our campus branches and in our special student zones that we set up.
"In those areas with a high student population
there are now special student zones. There is budgeting help, [and] help and advice about getting a job."
