The Travelodge expansion is showing no signs of a slowdown and new hotels could create a further 1,300 full or part time jobs in London and other parts of the United Kingdom.
The hotel group has already opened 18 hotels this year. A further 43 are works in progress and around half will be complete before the end of 2011. Just a couple of weeks back, Travelodge exchanged on 21 hotels in the United Kingdom and a further hotel on the continent in Spain.
Many of the full and part time jobs up for grabs will be based in London as five of the new hotels will open in the capital. More jobs will be created in other regions when sites are completed in towns and cities including Newquay, Glasgow, Darlington, Woking and Loughborough.
Management positions will open up with Travelodge as soon as each hotel goes live but hundreds of other jobs for receptionists, bar staff and cleaners will also be created.
Once all of the hotels currently awaiting completion are finished, the group will hold the keys to almost 40,000 rooms in over 500 UK hotels.
Director of Human Resources at Travelodge, Michelle Luxford, outlined what it takes to be successful in a career with her company and mentioned the opportunities for advancement within the hotel group.
“All you need to be successful at Travelodge is a great attitude to work; we can give you the skills and training you need. We are passionate about developing our people and I am proud to say that 75% of all our management appointments are filled internally,” said Ms Luxford.
