The talents of some of the capital's best art students have been recognised by top professionals within the industry.

A new exhibit, entitled Anticipation, has opened showcasing the work of 26 of London's finest art students.

Top art curators Flora Fairbairn, Kay Saatchi and Catriona Warren put together the collection over a period of two years.

They travelled to graduate shows across the capital and visited a large number of art colleges in a bid to find the very best new London talent.

The exhibition showcases several different specialisms and includes pieces of sculpture, portrait work and even a chandelier crafted out of the fluff from a hoover.

It is hoped that the exhibition will help the students and new graduates by getting their work seen by a mass audience. The artists themselves will receive 100 per cent of the proceeds of any sales they make.

The evidence indicates that many students graduating with degrees in art branch into a wide-range of related creative professions.

Art students often choose to take part-time or unpaid work in galleries during their studies to increase their levels of practical professional experience.

Many also decide to take postgraduate courses which mean they can focus more precisely on their chosen artistic fields.
