thirsty work for a graduate job

Thirsty Work For A Graduate Job As graduate jobs go, they don’t come much better than this one!

Just savour the taste of this job description:

“Budweiser Official Beer Taster”

Unfortunately, (for everyone except James Clee that is) the job has already been filled.

James Clee, a graduate from Swansea, now has the thankless task of turning up at summer festivals in the UK to taste Budweiser’s Bud 66 brew. For this he will receive a pay packet of £10,000 for a total of 6 days graft.

Now, some sceptics may think this is a complete gimmick of a graduate job - and we wouldn’t much disagree actually. The beer has already been produced and bottled - so isn’t a bit late to employ a Beer Executive Officer (BEO) to test out its taste? Still, nice work if you can get it!

Budweiser claim that James, who was a strong enough graduate candidate to see off over 5,000 other applicants for the job, will be working for them to make sure that the Bud 66 is being served up cold enough to festival goers and musicians this summer.

After checking the ale quality and temperature at a festival in Newquay, the BEO now moves on to the Creamfields festival at the end of August where he will be paid to drink beer while watching Paul Van Dyk and The Chemical Brothers.

This Budweiser beer-tasting job follows in the footsteps of other ‘Dream Jobs’ that have been used for marketing purposes such as ‘Idyllic Australian Island Caretaker’ and ‘Beach Tester’ - and we aren’t in the least bit jealous.

Iain Newell, the UK Marketing Director for Budweiser said: “For many the job spec read like a dream position – sociable hours, excellent day rate, the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people – with the simple objective to deliver great times to as many people as possible.”

Very admirable stuff indeed!

So, what would your dream job be?
