Up to 350 new full or part time Leeds jobs could be created now that DHL Supply Chain have won a new contract from Debenhams Direct.
The contract logistics specialist will help fulfil e-commerce orders for Debenhams and will use its new facility at Sherburn in Elment, Leeds to facilitate the deliveries.
Debenhams Direct gets an influx of over 3 million visitors to its website each month and has chosen to go with DHL to help them deliver an expanding range of products.
Debenhams aims to double its deliveries over the next three years from current levels of around 2 million packages a year.
The staff who fill the 350 jobs in Leeds will assist DHL in processing orders at each stage including receipt, packaging and returns. Some of these order processing jobs would be great student jobs if you study in the Leeds area.
Paul Richardson, a managing director on the fashion side of DHL Supply Chain business, spoke of the history of DHL’s co-operation with Debenhams and looked ahead to the future: “This is one of the largest fashion fulfillment operations of its type in terms of implementation, with DHL providing a holistic service to the retailer inclusive of IT infrastructure. Our partnership with Debenhams has lasted well over a decade, and this new contract is testament to the quality of service we can deliver.”
Paul Legget, Debenham’s Head of Logistics was also positive about the future of the partnership with DHL and the new Leeds jobs that will be created, saying he was confident that DHL would provide the solutions that his company needed to help them extend their business.
