2,000 Full Or Part Time Kent Jobs Blowing In The Wind

15 May 2011

2,000 Full Or Part Time Kent Jobs Blowing In The Wind Those of you who will be looking for part time Kent jobs will be interested to hear that Vestas could create as many as 2,000 jobs in the county if it is granted permission to build wind turbines there.

The proposed area is off the shore near the town of Sheerness and could cover up to 70 hectares. That would cover an area larger than all of the pitches in the top four English football leagues.

President of Vestas, Anders Søe-Jensen, said that the jobs would only be available if the UK government put the relevant policies in place: “Before our customers can provide us with the needed order pipeline, they need to see stability in the market and a long-term political and regulatory certainty that ensures their business case. Making that happen lies in the hands of the policy makers, so we are looking forward to seeing the UK government providing the best possible terms for the offshore wind industry to truly take off and the potential jobs becoming a reality.”

Green energy is hot news at the moment after the United Nations released a report stating that renewables could offer up to 80% of the energy required worldwide. Like Mr Søe-Jensen, though, the report also concluded that governments around the globe would have to put the right policies in place in order to achieve that target.
