PwC, the financial services giant, filled more graduate finance jobs this spring than it has ever done before.
PwC, a company which is regularly picked out for awards for its graduate recruitment scheme, have plans to put 1,200 graduates into jobs this year.
Close to 6,000 students - an average of 30 candidates per job - applied for the 209 graduate jobs that were available in April. As an indication of the massive surge of interest in PwC’s graduate finance jobs, we only need to look back to their last two years applications. In 2009, PwC received 446 per cent fewer applications and this year they have received almost double the number of applications that they did last year.
Head of student recruitment at PwC, Richard Irwin, PwC, said that his company was committed to sourcing graduate talent from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines: “Only a quarter of the new Spring trainees studied accounting, banking and finance degrees, while over a quarter studied science and engineering. This is just one aspect of the kind of diversity we value so highly in our graduate recruits.”
Mr Irwin added that the PwC’s Spring intake was a fantastic opportunity for students who don’t want to wait until the end of the year to embark on a graduate career in finance.
