1,000 Holiday Jobs In Wales

27 Apr 2011

1,000 Holiday Jobs In Wales 1,000 holiday jobs could be created in Wales over the coming five years in the adventure holiday sector.

Tourism Partnership North Wales hopes to encourage more people who are interested in activity holidays such as mountain biking, climbing, kayaking and trekking to come to North Wales.

There are over 300 companies in Wales working in adventure tourism and an increased popularity in North Wales as a destination could see over 1,000 holiday jobs added to the Welsh economy.

Walking is already very popular in Wales with Snowdon being a major draw to the country. One idea on the table to further promote hiking in Wales is a Smartphone app which would provide the user with highly detailed maps of popular trekking areas. Information on nearby points of interest and facilities would also be provided on the app.

The Regional Strategy Director of Tourism Partnership North Wales, Dewi Davies, has over 25 years experience in the tourism history and is confident that Wales can bring the new holiday jobs to the country.

“There is an opportunity to create 1,000 new jobs in the outdoor sector over the next five years because the sector is really growing in the UK. It is not a kiss-me-quick industry but one which is a vital contributor to the economy of north Wales,” said Mr Davies.
