Travelodge, the rapidly expanding hotel group, could create over 500 full and part time jobs in a £100 million partnership with pubs across the United Kingdom.
Over the next 4 years, Travelodge are set to open 36 new ventures in partnership with leading pub groups in the UK such as Greene King, Marston’s, JD Wetherspoons, JW Lees and Mitchells & Butlers. It is expected that over a half thousand full and part time jobs will be created before 2015 because of the expansion.
Currently, the Travelodge portfolio consists of over 400 hotels in the UK, Ireland and on the continent in Spain. Four new locations have already been added in 2011 at Cardiff, Lancaster, Canterbury and Ealing – and 8 more hotels will open before the end of August.
Travelodge already works together with UK pubs at 15 locations – but, with an upturn in pub trade as the recession ebbs, the hotel group hopes to take advantage of the increase in customers. The plan should make new ventures more affordable for both the pubs and Travelodge and will bring about a rise in the number of full and part time catering & hospitality jobs in the UK.
Paul Harvey of Travelodge spoke recently about the planned partnership with pubs, saying: “The pub companies have noticeably stepped up their development plans over recent months and in many parts of the country their target locations correspond with ours. We have been contacted by all the major players in the market and we are now pro-actively seeking out sites with them.”
