350 Full & Part Time Sainsbury’s Jobs At Proposed Redhill Store

05 Mar 2011

350 Full & Part Time Sainsbury’s Jobs At Proposed Redhill Store There is a chance of up to 350 full and part time jobs at Sainsbury’s in Redhill if a proposal by the supermarket chain gets the green light for its planning application.

If the proposal is accepted by the Reigate and Banstead Borough Council then Sainsbury’s – along with backing from Aviva Investors, will build a new store triple the size of the current Sainsbury’s store in Redhill.

As well as increasing the range of food products on offer in the area, the new store would also branch out into its other markets and have sections for clothing, items for the home and sports equipment. Sainsbury’s estimates that demand for the new products and expanded ranges would bring new shoppers to the area and allow them to create between 300 and 400 full or part time jobs.

Regional development executive for Sainsbury’s, Max Whitehand, spoke of the potential benefits to the local area if the proposal gets the go ahead: “We are very excited about our plans for Redhill and are encouraged by the support and feedback received from the local community. Sainsbury's and Aviva Investors are fully committed to delivering the proposals which represent a significant investment in Redhill, and could be a powerful stimulus for the local economy, helping to promote further regeneration in the town centre.”

Sainsbury’s are hoping for a decision on their planning application this summer and will then forge ahead to get the new store open near the beginning of 2014.
