buckinghamshire county council launch internship scheme
04-Feb-2011

Buckinghamshire County Council Launch Internship Scheme Buckinghamshire County Council have launched an internship scheme for school, college and university leavers in an effort to offer work experience to young people in the area.

The council website states that: “The aim of the scheme is to provide you with a good quality work placement, helping you to develop transferable business skills and gain valuable work experience.”

At the moment they have two placements available on the internship scheme – a Business Analyst Intern and a Learning & Development Intern for the HR Department. The placements are available on a full or part time basis for between 3 and 6 months and contributions towards travel and food will be made by the council.

To be eligible for the Buckinghamshire County Council internships you must have left school, college or university within the last 12 months and reside in the Buckinghamshire area (with the exception of Milton Keynes).

Internships are a fantastic way to get an understanding of how big organisations work and can be the difference between you finding a job and not finding one. They really are that influential in recruiters minds in the current job market.

Cabinet Member for Education, Steven Adams, of Buckinghamshire County Council said of the internship scheme that, “In this fiercely competitive work environment, young people need to be able to demonstrate vital skills and experience. This is an ideal way for the council to help young people get started.”
