Alton Towers, the UK’s largest theme park and family resort, will create 950 full and part time jobs in Staffordshire over the first few months of the New Year.

The theme park is looking to fill around 900 part time jobs in Staffordshire and will also be recruiting for 50 permanent positions in its conference centre, bars and restaurants.

HR manager, Jo Winfield, said: “The permanent roles are to start as soon as we have recruited; the fixed-term roles are to start about March 14, when the park reopens.”

The theme park and resort - which annually attracts over 2 million thrill seekers with rides such as TH13TEEN, Air, The Blade and Oblivion – provides hundreds of full time jobs, temporary positions and part time work in Staffordshire each year. Last year, Alton Towers advertised 1,200 full and part time jobs and received around 15 applications for each position.

The full time positions, part time jobs and temporary contracts at Alton Towers come in a mixture of guises. Mainly, the theme park is seeking to find people to work as ride operators, hospitality staff, bar and restaurant staff, warehouse operatives, photographers and actors but many other positions are also available.

Speaking of the 950 Alton Towers jobs for 2011, Staffordshire councillor, Andrew Hart, said: “It is excellent news in these recessionary times. Alton Towers provide a jobs boost for the locality every year and every year it seems to employ more and more staff.”
