The Times newspaper, based in London, has announced this month that it is expecting to have one or two graduate jobs on offer again next year.
The graduates who take up these jobs in the media industry can expect to receive a two year contract with The Times. The second year of the contract is, however, dependant on a decent performance on the graduate scheme in the first year.
The new recruits will first work as news reporters before gaining experience for a few months in other departments at The Times.
The graduate positions will commence in September 2011 and graduates from all subjects are welcome. Interested graduates and post-graduates need to get their applications in before the deadline date at the end of March. It’s worth noting, though, that a public article in The Times newspaper stated that ‘the earlier in the New Year the better’ for applications. And, with over 300 people applying for these graduate jobs each year, it would be good advice to heed.
The Times newspaper has been in circulation since the late 18th Century. It is now owned by Times Newspapers Limited, which is ultimately owned by Rupert Murdoch as part of the News Corporation Group. The former broadsheet decided to switch to a more compact tabloid edition in 2004.
