Encouraging News For Full & Part Time Jobs In Scotland

20 Dec 2010

Encouraging News For Full & Part Time Jobs In Scotland The latest report from The Bank of Scotland offers some encouraging signs for anyone looking for full or part time jobs in Scotland.

The Bank of Scotland’s Labour Market Barometer, canvasses the opinions and forecasts of 100 experts in the recruitment industry to produce the monthly report. The findings suggest that the number of jobs on offer on both a full time basis and for part time vacancies were both up across a range of sectors.

On the part time jobs side of things, most new opportunities were created by a strong showing in the hotel and catering sector. For full time jobs, people with IT skills are becoming more sought after in Scotland.

Chief economist at The Bank of Scotland, Donald MacRae, spoke in balanced tones about the latest jobs figures: "Conditions within the Scottish labour market have improved, yet still remain challenging. The number of people placed into permanent and temporary jobs increased at a solid rate, with both sectors reporting six month highs.”

MacRae also confirmed that average salaries paid to employees in permanent positions had risen for the first time in six months during last month as more employers started to recruit on less temporary terms.

"This is a welcome improvement in the labour market, confirming Scotland's slow recovery from recession and almost closing the gap with the rest of the UK," concluded MacRae.
