Business Group Pledges 160,000 Cambridge & Peterborough Jobs A new business group has pledged they will add 160,000 full or part time jobs in Cambridge, Peterborough and surrounding areas in the next 15 years.

The group will work on improving housing, transport links and economic growth and will be made up of local business managers and public sector organisations. They estimate that finding solutions to such problems and working on them will create up to 160,000 new jobs in Cambridgeshire.

The mission statement of The Greater Cambridge/Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership is: “To lead our area’s growth to 100,000 significant businesses, and create 160,000 new jobs by 2025, in an internationally-renowned, low carbon, knowledge-based economy.”

Councillor Jill Tuck of Cambridgeshire County Council said that this was great news for the residents of Cambridgeshire. “One of our main priorities is to ensure the continued prosperity of our communities. This new Local Enterprise Partnership will help support the growth of small and large businesses as well as the creation of new companies,” said Tuck. She added that the partnership would attract funding to the region, bring many full and part time Cambridge jobs and also benefit local people by improving infrastructure and facilities.
